Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Fighters Party

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a diverse cast of personalities, and a gripping narrative including angels, demons, and dark forces increasing in power within the urban setting.

Note: Key plot points for the latest installment of this adventure lie ahead.

The Soldiers Table Revealed

The latest chapter ended with a major cliffhanger and presented the initial group of characters who will split off from the main group to embark on their own adventure, apart from the remaining groups.

This warrior group consists of Teor (played by the voice actor), Thimble (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).

Why Split the Party?

Considering a large ensemble, it was clear from the beginning that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unworkable.

That’s why, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Prelude, intertwining the characters’ stories before dividing into three distinct groups: Fighters, Planners, and Explorers.

Characteristics of the Warrior Group

As described by the DM, the combat-focused party is for players who are drawn to a traditionally charged fight-heavy story mode where diplomatic options are scarce.

At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might look out of place, but the events of the third episode make it clear why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the combat party.

Why They Must Go

First, the group knows exactly where to head next after a brutal initial meeting with the antagonists.

An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose passing started the narrative’s action—exploited the enemy for his selfish purposes, invading the secret base, attacking the character, and swiping all the powerful objects to auction.

The traitor then settled his debts and escaped to a fortified location in the northern region, above Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.

Individual Reasons

Moreover, each character has a individual motive to depart the urban setting:

  • The rogue, as the companion and best friend, seeks vengeance.
  • Kattigan has experience in the region and cautions that it is a nasty environment.
  • The warrior and Wicander, having defied his family’s wishes to kill Teor and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
  • But, their status as prominent individuals in House Halovar could enable the party enter locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Furthermore, Teor pledged a eternal obligation to Wicander for his deliverance and will now accompany him everywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

Lastly, all of them are sought by the rulers that govern the setting for a multiple motives, making remaining behind dangerous:

  • Thimble and The character are known criminals.
  • The warrior and The cleric defied House Halovar and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
  • The fighter is wanted dead by the family.

This results in them little choice but to journey toward the northern region in pursuit of Casimir.

Upcoming Developments

Based on episode three’s Cooldown, we learn that the warrior group won’t be around the following episode, leaving the other eight cast members to round up the Explorers and Schemers tables.

Viewers can anticipate discovering which players will be assigned to which table in the season’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
